When Carrel & Partners relocated their offices to a new site, the law firm wanted to use the opportunity to create a workplace that energized both staff and clients. The new space was a clear, wide open palette and provided ample access to natural light. We took advantage of this feature and created a Teknion Altos demountable wall plan with full height glass where possible to ensure everyone had their “right to light”.
This focus on light access was brought into the workstations which were designed with lower height panels that provides seated privacy, and encourages employee collaboration, without blocking light or air flow. Carrel & Partners also needed considerable filing space, which was fulfilled using three high density Spacefile filing systems, creating over 900 linear feet of filing.
Finally, interface modular carpet tile was installed throughout the new space. These tiles are manufactured using recycled fish nets and are installed with “Tac-Tile” tabs as opposed to conventional glue down adhesives. This type of installation allows for easy removal and replacement, and is much safer for our planet.
By creating lighting and filing solutions that work with how employees naturally utilize the space, we were able re-imagine and challenge the traditional, stuffy law firm environment.
